The Racing Years

A one-man show. Me, my dog Covie, and about 30,000 miles.

How it started

I went to my first race in 2018. Two weeks later, I was at ManCup.

I started with Harley-Davidsons that were still street bikes — foot shift, hand clutch, no wheelie bars — and raced them against machines built with every advantage. I went full-time during COVID, won my first championship in 2019, and kept climbing.

By 2023, I had two AHDRA championships in the same season and the AMRA Racer of the Year award. I ran my last full national campaign through April 2024, came back part-time in 2025, and by 2026 the next chapter was calling.

What mattered most

I did every job.

I built the motors. I drove to every track. I paid every expense. I tuned every bike and rode every pass.

No crew. No team of wrenches. No paid tuner. Engine developer, engine builder, rider, tuner, and money man — all one person. Winning national titles against funded, multi-person teams while doing every job myself was the hardest feat of all.

The climb

2021

Five event wins. Two Nationals. The HGW Street title.

Atlanta was my favorite win: Super Pro 10.30 and T-Man Bagger Eliminator on the same weekend. I was the only bagger in the class — no electronics and no wheelie bar.

At Tulsa, Friday’s test pass killed the electrical system. I rewired it connector by connector overnight, told no one, sent it cold into round one, and won the class and a $1,000 holeshot race.

2022

I built it down to 117ci and still swept.

I opened AMRA at Belle Rose as the number-one qualifier, set class records, and won Street Bagger with an abscessed tooth. At Milan, I reset the Hot Rod Bagger record at 10.38 @ 129.83 and doubled in Super Stock and Hot Rod Bagger.

By the end of the year I had three season titles: AHDRA Super Stock, AHDRA Hot Rod Bagger, and IHDRA Street.

2023

The double-championship season.

Eddie won for the first time at Buckeye. I went 164 mph at Indy, won the Ward Gold Medallion and “Baddest Bagger in the Black Hills” at Sturgis, then won Pro Bagger at the Jim McClure World Finals.

I finished AHDRA Pro Bagger #1, AHDRA Street Bagger #1, AMRA Pro Bagger #2, and AMRA Street Bagger #2 — and was named AMRA Racer of the Year. I did it all stone sober. I didn’t touch any alcohol in 2023.

I kept street-legal, foot-shift, hand-clutch baggers competitive in fields full of two-steps, auto-shifters, and wheelie bars. These are the races that built the story.

2018
—19

The beginning and the first title

Entered my first motorcycle drag race at a Hogs Gone Wild event in 2018.
Raced ManCup at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta about two weeks later.
Won the 2019 Hogs Gone Wild Non-Bagger Championship.

2020

Both bikes into the 9s

Ran a 9.8-second quarter on Dragbob while competing in both Street and Non-Bagger.
Gave my first on-camera CycleDrag interview at Hogs Gone Wild Pittsburgh.
Finished runner-up in Non-Bagger at the Silver Dollar Grand Finale, 9.84 to 9.94.

2021

Five event wins and the Street title

Double win at Atlanta Dragway: Super Pro 10.30 and T-Man Bagger Eliminator, running 141 mph.
Won GRC Street and a $1,000 holeshot money race at Tulsa after rewiring the bike overnight.
Won V-Twin Street Bagger at Cornbelt MotorcycleMania in Eddyville.
Became the first bagger to win AMRA Super Pro at Beech Bend, with a .059 light and a 10.301 pass.
Won the Gladden match race at the Silver Dollar Grand Finale and became HGW Street Champion.
Finished runner-up in Super Gas at my first AMRA race — the only bagger in the class.

2022

The three-title season

Qualified #1, set class records, and won Street Bagger at the AMRA opener in Belle Rose.
Won Hot Rod Bagger at AHDRA Gainesville, my second National in a row.
Brought hardware home from AMRA Norwalk and debuted Darkside.
Won Street at the IHDRA / Street Kings race at Silver Dollar.
Qualified #1, set the 10.38 @ 129.83 Hot Rod Bagger record, and doubled at AHDRA Milan.
Won both days in Hot Rod Bagger and T-Man Super Stock at AHDRA/IHDRA North Florida.

2023

Double champion and Racer of the Year

Won Pro Bagger at the AHDRA opener and set a new Street Dresser record on pump gas.
Won Street Bagger and finished runner-up in Pro Bagger at AMRA Cecil County on my birthday weekend.
Double win and new Street Bagger records at AHDRA Buckeye — Eddie’s first win.
Ran 164 mph at AMRA Indy.
Ran 6.42 @ 112 in the eighth at Sturgis and won the Ward Gold Medallion, the event, and the $2,000 Khromewerks prize.
Won Street Bagger at the All Harley World Shootout.
Won Pro Bagger at the Jim McClure World Finals to seal the AHDRA championship; finished runner-up in Street Bagger.

2024

The last full campaign

At my home AMRA race, I finished runner-up with a broken seat held together by tie-wraps, tape, and a bath towel. After the kill-lanyard was sucked into the front head during the final, I came back and ran my fastest foot-shift pass ever: 9.6 @ 141. It was my last national final.

The comeback and the pivot

My first out-of-state race in more than a year was a 1,200-mile round trip, and I made the final. I put the first FuelTech FT550 on an M8 Street Bagger and hosted a $10,000 bagger race at No Problem Raceway. By 2026, I knew it was time to choose the next build.
